The cloud-based production and booking system clearly stands out from the competition in three key areas – data architecture, process automation and supplier network.
With Travelpack 2.0, traffics has launched a flexible, scalable and dynamic production and booking system for modern tour operators, and is now offering further insights into the ‘engine room’. The platform brings together all travel services – from accommodation and flights to transfers, activities and cruises – within a cloud-based infrastructure, enabling seamless distribution via B2B and B2C channels. The system differs significantly from conventional solutions in three key areas.
1. Proactive caching instead of reliance on the supplier cache
Travelpack 2.0 takes a fundamentally new approach to building and maintaining its internal data cache. Unlike conventional systems, which rely on suppliers to provide cache data, Travelpack 2.0 independently and proactively retrieves the required information from the respective providers via interfaces. This allows traffics to retain control over the timeliness and scope of the data – regardless of whether, and to what standard, a supplier provides its own cache data.
At the heart of the system is an intelligent metrics system that continuously assesses the relevance of each individual data record. Factors such as booking date, destination, occupancy, travel period and historical booking behaviour are factored into the calculation. As a result, particularly popular offers are constantly kept up to date with current prices and availability – precisely when they are being sold. This means the system is also equipped to handle rapidly increasing B2B/B2C workloads and the growing number of agency-based, AI-supported searches.
The added value for travel portals:
significantly higher data quality thanks to up-to-date, directly retrieved prices and availability
greater variety of offers and complete coverage of the portfolio
improved performance in the presentation of offers – even during periods of high search volume
updates based on actual demand, rather than treating all offers equally
2. End-to-end automation in the post-processing of travel transactions
Another key focus of Travelpack 2.0 is the comprehensive automation of booking processing. Intelligent process control reduces or fully automates numerous steps that were previously carried out manually. Post-processing throughout the entire booking chain is handled by specialised, automated processes such as:
The Travelpack Assist Robot automatically checks bookings via provider queries, reconciles statuses, travel periods, product details and prices with external data, logs discrepancies and forwards the invoice to connected accounting systems.
Booking Auto-update Robot automatically monitors and processes changes to charter and hotel bookings, synchronises the associated dynamic packages – for example, in the event of changes to flight times, airlines or airports – and notifies the configured recipients.
The Auto Cancellation Robot cancels all mandatory package components sequentially, following the same logic as a manual cancellation, including automatic error handling and escalation to administrators in exceptional cases.
The On-request Travelpack Robot processes transactions with the status ‘On request’, checks the status of components via supplier checks and automatically continues the confirmation workflow through to the final booking confirmation.
Travel providers can use the logic provided to flexibly automate processes. This results in more efficient processing, fewer sources of error and faster response times throughout the entire booking chain. At the same time, operational costs are reduced and resources are freed up for value-adding tasks.
3. Over 140 connected suppliers and content sources
Furthermore, the system offers access to an extensive network of over 140 connected suppliers and content sources. This creates a competitive portfolio with maximum variety of offerings – all from a single source and manageable via a single platform:
Flights: Airlines and flight content, including direct connections as well as GDS and NDC sources, amongst which are a large number of European and international carriers, as well as flight content specifically from the tour operator sector.
Accommodation: Accommodation providers, hotel hubs and international wholesalers offering a wide range of accommodation options worldwide
Additional services: Cruise operators, transfer services and other services to complete the travel package
In addition, tour operators can supply their own flight and hotel content or enter their own inventory data directly into Travelpack 2.0. Thanks to the diversity of the connected sources, travel companies can flexibly bundle their products from different channels, create bespoke offers more quickly and strengthen their competitiveness in the long term. Multilingual and multi-currency capabilities also open the door to new, international markets – without adding to the complexity of the system.
